Dog allergy management: choosing the right products

As responsible dog pawrents, it’s essential to understand how allergies can affect our fur babies and how to choose the right products to alleviate their symptoms.
Identifying Allergies:
The first step in managing your dog’s allergies is to identify the culprit. Common allergens for dogs include certain proteins in food, pollen, dust mites, and even ingredients in grooming products. Keep an eye out for symptoms such as itching, redness, ear infections, and digestive issues.
Choosing the Right Products:
When it comes to selecting products for your allergic pup, quality and suitability are key. Here’s a guide to help you make the right choices:
Food
Food: Opt for hypoallergenic dog food that is free from common allergens like wheat, soy, and artificial additives. Look for options rich in high-quality proteins and essential nutrients. Consider mono-protein lines, with simple but natural or human-grade ingredient. In this case, less is more.
Treats
Treats: Treats should be just as carefully selected as your dog’s main meals. Choose hypoallergenic treats made with limited ingredients and free from common allergens. Air-dried meat treats, organic, human-grade baked treats or even a bit of fresh veggies, like carrot or cucumber.
Grooming products
Grooming Products: Dogs with allergies can benefit from hypoallergenic shampoos that are gentle on their skin. Look for products that are fragrance-free and made with natural ingredients. If you are getting new grooming products for your fur baby, we suggest purchasing small bottles first, to try and see if it suits your dog.
